FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Hi there and thank you for taking the time to discover a bit more about me and my Fab You Bliss Lifestyle Blog. I get asked these questions a lot so I decided to post them here on the blog for all to see. If you have a burning question and you don’t see it here, feel free to drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org. I update this page frequently so if your question is a popular one, I will add it to the list.
Q: What kind of camera do you use?
A: I have two camera bodies, both are the Nikon D700.
Q: Have you always shot with Nikon?
A: No, when I first picked up photography at the age of 12 I shot with a Canon 35mm film camera. Then when everything went digital I hopped the fence and defected to Nikon. I think both are excellent cameras so it’s really just a matter of personal preference. Canon has some stuff that Nikon doesn’t and Nikon has some stuff Canon doesn’t. I’d say if you’re in the market for either brand, rent each model you like one at a time so you can really test out and see which fits your needs best.
Q: What lenses do you have?
A: 50mm 1.4, 105 macro, 12-24mm 2.8, 24-70mm 2.8 and 70-200mm 2.8
Q: Which lens is your favorite and what do you use the lenses for?
A: My favorite lens changes a lot. Right now I’d have to say it’s the 70-200mm. It just takes beautiful images, but it’s super heavy. I use the 50mm and the 70-200mm for portraits and weddings, the 105 macro for detail shots, and the 12-24mm for wide shots of a ceremony site, reception halls or scenic portraits. I kind of haven’t been using the 24-70mm for a while.
Q: Do you use any bags or straps when you’re shooting?
A: I’ve tried every configuration under the sun…a Camera Slinger so I could carry two cameras at once, no strap with my Shootsac over my shoulder so I could quickly change lenses, my Shootsac, a Tamarac backpack on my back and my camera on a R Strap. As of now if I’m shooting a wedding I like the R Strap best. And if I’m shooting portraits, I’m usually just free holding the camera. As far as a bag, I am still looking for something perfect that will allow me to pull lenses in and out easier than the Shootsac. And I would LOVE to partner with a great bag company here that way I could really endorse them. Hint, hint…Jo Totes and Epiphanie I’d love to partner with you…pretty please 🙂
Q: I know you use Adobe Photoshop for image editing, but I was wondering if you use Lightroom or Bridge? And do you use any actions?
A: I use Bridge for all my editing. I tried Lightroom, but I have a pretty efficient system with Bridge so I sort of asked myself why should I change? As for actions, I like to play around with different ones. I have Kubota Actions 1 and 2, Totally Rad Actions and a Florabella Collection.
Q: Can I use something off your blog for my own?
A: You are welcome to use one image from my blog in a post of your own as long as you link to my blog as the original post and give credit to the photographer who captured the image. It is NOT cool to copy an entire post and post it as your own. That will definitely bring about bad Karma!
Q: How long have you been blogging?
A: Technically, 4 years. However Fab You Bliss was just born last year so I’ve been blogging on a full-time basis for a year.
Q: What do you like about blogging?
A: Everything! I love blogging for this blog because it gives me the opportunity to share many incredibly, UBER talented photographers. I remember when I was first trying to get published and it seemed like it was never going to happen. So it’s an awesome feeling to be the one who gets to tell a photographer they are going to be featured. It’s so AWESOME I feel like Santa Claus!
Q: I know you have several weekly features such as Monday’s Spills & Thrills, Trigger Happy Tuesday’s and Thursday’s Thoughts, etc. Which one is your favorite?
A: My absolute favorite is the Daily Fab You Bliss Photographer because it goes back to the previous answer…I just love being able to make someone’s day!
Q: I am just starting out in blogging, do you have any advice?
A: Blogging takes A LOT of hard work and tons of time. So you should really have a passion about whatever you are blogging about. I think the key to success in blogging is honesty, consistency and a never ending drive to make quality features and ultimately a blog you can be sincerely PROUD of.
Q: How long have you and The Hubby been married?
A: We just celebrated our 4 year anniversary in December 🙂 And I still LOVE that we got married around the holidays!
Q: Are you and The Hubby going to have children?
A: Unfortunately no. You can read the long version of that answer here.
Q: In all your travels, what is your most favorite country you’ve visited?
A: This answer is a tie. Both Italy and Africa are beyond amazing and I would jump at the chance to visit them again.
Q: How old is Quinley? And are you going to get another dog?
A: Quinley just turned 1 years old. As far as getting another dog, we are thinking about it. However I think if it happens it will probably be next year when Quinley is 2.
Q: What color are your eyes?
A: The Hubby says I have Chameleon eyes because they change colors depending on what I wear. Technically they are blue, however there is a bit of yellow around the Iris which makes them appear to change from blue to green sometimes.
Q: What are some of your current obsessions?
A: StumbleUpon, Pinterest, Pupp-Awg, The Holiday’s, The Hubby, Grapefruit Juice & Club Soda, The Rachel Zoe Project (I hope it’s coming back), naming all of Quinley’s toys, goofy dancing, pretty hats and scarves and vintage dresses.
Stay tuned for more to come…
Have a Fab You Bliss day!
