Today’s wedding comes to us all the way from Australia. Well…the photographer, Emma Pointon, is from Australia, although she is originally from New Zealand. The wedding, Chelsea and Grant’s wedding featured here today, was in Fiji and we’ll definitely get to that in a minute. But first I wanted to chat about their photographer…since that’s what this blog is mainly about.
So Emma could be my sister we have so much in common. Obviously photography is one, but also like me she is a list maker, has a dog named Lola she calls her “furry child”, loves cheese, wine & chocolate and hates the cold, among other things. Other than the fact that she likes soccer, (or football as they call it down there), and me…not so much, I’m telling you we could be related. She also has one pretty cool website, you should check it out here. And there is a great interview of her on the blog Some Pretty Things Photography, a definite must read.
Also, you all know how much I love it when photographers offer up their own words about the wedding or engagement session. Well Emma definitely doesn’t disappoint. So…let’s get to Chelsea and Grant’s wedding.
Chelsea and Grant traveled from Canberra, Australia to Fiji for a destination wedding. Fiji holds a special place in their hearts as they have spent a number of holidays here, taking time out of their busy lives. 32 other guests joined the couple from Canberra, Sydney, Perth, Dubai and Vancouver and had a week holiday on a tropical paradise at the same time.
Their Fiji wedding come under the budget, even after the 8 day stay in the Sheraton Resort Villas. Chelsea, who works 60 plus hours a week in her corporate job, was able to leave much of the planning to the Sheraton and their wedding coordinator Perina. All Chelsea had to do was get the dress, suits and bonbonnieres from Canberra to Fiji. Once in Fiji the couple relaxed with their friends and family who made the trip before the wedding, on Easter Tuesday.
Chelsea did have a clear vision for her wedding, colour infusion. She made it clear that guests were to wear colourful outfits while she and the boys wore very neutral tones so that their wedding was a colour extravaganza in this magical place.
A late ceremony, speeches straight after the ceremony and then an hour to have photos before heading to dinner, the wedding was never supposed to be a long, major affair. Straight after dinner it was over to the Chime Bar where guests partied the very hot night away.
