Obviously this post isn’t wedding related. It’s been a while, but occasionally we like to mix things up and post recipes, home inspiration, married life topics and ones like this. It should be no secret that we adore our Goldendoodle Quinley. I mean, both The Hubby and I have grown extremely attached to her in the eleven months since we brought her home. And that fact is clearly evident by the amount of images taken of her and posted to Facebook, Twitter and this blog. I mean, it sort of boarders on obsessive! But that’s okay…I’m alright with it, I’m a Doodle junkie and I freely admit it. What do they say…the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem? Well, I have a problem.
Anyhow, she definitely is our love bug, that’s for sure and we treat her like she is our child. But we have also diligently trained her, and continue to do so, to be the best dog she can. Of course part of that means we keep her on a leash when we walk her in public places, we’ve trained her to come when she is called, we’ve instructed her not jump on people and generally behave like a good dog should. And for an eleven month old puppy, she’s doing really well. That is as long as other dog owners follow the rules they are supposed to, hence the reason for this post.
Now, I definitely don’t pretend to be perfect…heck I just admitted I have a problem so we all know perfection is out. I do, however, have consideration for other people…especially when my dog might cause anyone any trouble. But it amazes me that there are so many dog owners out there who are the complete opposite. I’m talking about those people who leave their dogs off leash on a path where other people are walking their leashed dogs. Don’t get me wrong, this is not an attack on unleashed dogs. Actually…I’m perfectly okay with you having your dogs off leash when no other leashed dogs are around. Or if the other leashed dogs don’t care about your dog. I mean, if mine was better behaved, I might do it too. But she’s not there yet and I embrace that. Either way, I would never let my unleashed dog antagonize another person or their dog. I mean, when you see me walking my 65 pound leashed dog and all of a sudden she starts pulling and tugging with all her might to get to your unleashed dog, what is going through your mind? Do you care that you are causing my dog to get so crazy excited because she so wants to play with your dog but can’t. Does it matter to you that my dog is so out-of-this-world excited I feel either my arm is going to come out of it’s socket or she’s going to break something with all the flips and twirls she does? Probably not, but c’mon and help a buddy out by putting your dog on a leash…at least until I pass you. Just sayin’… it’s kind of common courtesy.
And on that same note…because I am sure you are the same person…please pick up your dog’s poop as well. It’s completely un-cool to leave it and I only have one word for you if you wish to be that un-cool…Karma!
Until next time on As The Dog World Turns…have a Fab You Bliss Wednesday!
