Have you ever looked at the prices of these yarn ball home accents at any big name store? Ridiculous, right? I mean, even if you have money to burn, why would you want to spend that much on something that could easily be made while watching TV? That’s right, these are super easy to make and hardly cost anything at all, especially if you already have most of the materials like I just so happened to have.
Confession…I love these little home accents and I’ve wanted to decorate our coffee table with them for quite some time now. I mean, even just this past weekend while at a baby shower I noticed the owner of the gorgeous house hosting the event had a beautiful set on their table. I even pointed them out to a girlfriend and said, “I’m going to make those!” And voila, here I am…
Here’s what you’ll need:
Styrofoam balls in various sizes
Different color yarn, twine, rope, leather or even raffia
Step 1: Start wrapping the end of your yarn in a tiny circle around itself until you have a flat little circle like a little doily of about 4 rotations of yarn. Place some fabric glue anywhere on a foam ball, then attach your little circle of yarn to the ball.
Step 2: Continue wrapping and gluing your yarn around the foam ball. (Seriously, how easy is this?)
Hint: If you are using yarn, the process may not go as fast as if you are using twine, raffia or anything hardier as a loose yarn tends to have trouble staying in place and will need more glue and concentration.
Step 3: Once you’ve covered the foam with your yarn material, cut the yarn where appropriate to make a smooth transition at the end.
Did I mention how easy these are to make?
Look at how lovely these are? And since I had most of the materials in my craft room already, they only cost me a few dollars as I had to buy the foam. Pretty neat, eh? Are you going to make some?
Have a Fab You Bliss day!
