The Hubby, Quinley and I are taking a road trip this summer to Colorado and along the way we’re going to be doing a lot of outdoor activities. This means the dog bed we use for traveling is going to get quite dirty with Quinley coming in and out of the car from the great outdoors. So…I thought of a perfect solution. Let’s make a washable dog bed cover. So…today I’m going to show you how you can easily make a slip cover for your fur baby’s bed too.
Here’s what you’ll need
Step 1: Measure the length and width of your dog’s bed. The bed I covered was 40″ length x 30″ width, so I purchased 2 1/2 yards of fabric.
Step 2: Cut the front piece of the fabric by adding 1 inch on all sides. So my piece was 42″ length x 32″ width. For the back pieces you will want to add an extra inch for each side of the length. So my back piece was 44″ length x 32″ width. Then you’ll cut that piece in half to get two pieces 22″ length x 32″ width.
Step 4: Pin the right sides of the fabric together and sew a straight stitch around the outside edge of all pieces.
Step 7: Close back cover and you’re done. (Note: You can attach some Velcro to the back if you want to make sure it stays shut) PS…The Hubby is a huge Fly Fisherman, hence the fish material given this bed cover is for a fly fishing trip 🙂
