You know when you see a movie and you leave the theater saying, “That was a really good movie!” Then…when you see the movie again you think, “Oh wow, I didn’t see that the first time, now it’s even better than I remembered”. Well, that’s exactly how I feel about today’s engagement session. I loved it from the start, but each time I view the images again it just keeps getting better and better. It’s the session that keeps on giving! To be able to capture a shoot as unique, lively and special as this while still be able to bring out the personalities of the subjects with flying colors, that’s a true testament to a photographer’s ability with his craft!
Photographed by Anthony Barlich Photography, Benton and Bjorn’s engagement session was shot in New York City and I’m simply loving his unique style. It’s refreshing and eye catching and I’m honored he picked our blog to feature these images. Below are a few words from the photographer himself.
How do you capture a couple’s love in a weekend? Equally as difficult, how do you capture the essence New York City in a single weekend? The Big Apple? The city that never sleeps? Chances are this is going to last all day and all night, right? This is going to be something BIG, something monumental? If you guessed, “YES” then you were correct. When I received the call to do an engagement shoot in New York City I was excited at the exhaustion ahead. Imagining the epic photos we were going to make. What an amazing opportunity. If I’ve learned anything from living in Chicago it’s that love in a big city is a beautiful thing. Love transforms those massive spaces into unique nooks, enriched with stories, journeys and personality. That was our goal for the shoot, to tell Bjorn and Benton’s New York Story and capture the beauty of their love.
