Stencil A Meaningful Message on A Floor Mat

Yesterday I posted a project on how to stencil letters onto wood panels to make art work to hang in your home that is meaningful to you. As I mentioned in that post, I’ve chosen to decorate some areas of our home with lines from our marriage vows. I mean…what could be more meaningful than that, right. So today, I’m going to show you how to stencil a floor mat.

Step 1: If you’re using an old floor mat like I am here, make sure it is as clean as you can get it.

Step 2: Pick the stencil pattern or font you want to use. As I mentioned yesterday, I don’t buy pre-made stencils as they are so easy to make. It’s just time consuming to cut all your letters or designs out. But I’d rather save money.

Once you have your stencils, trace your words out onto some cardboard and cut them out with a utility knife. Depending on the type of font you pick, you will most likely need to save the inside holes of your As, Bs, Os, Ps, Rs and Ds to insert into the proper place before you begin painting.

Step 3: Place your cut out stencils on your mat and tape all areas you don’t want painted. Spray at least two coats of your desired color. Let dry, then remove tape and stencils.

And there you have it…a sweet message to display for guests as they walk in our door that’s especially meaningful because it’s part of our marriage vows.

Thanks for stopping by!
