Why Not Try Designing with a Splendid Blue, Brown & Gray Palette?

I'm sure it'll be no surprise that blue is a favorite color of mine to design with. Clearly that's obvious just by glancing at a few of  the DIYs posted here as most of them have some sort of blue in them. Even the blog design has a bit of blue in it. Studies show blue is associated with clear thoughts, focus, intellect and communication. In addition, blue is thought to be a calming color as well as being a hue that promotes creativity. Awesome! Now I'm even more happy to have so much blue around me. As for gray, there's not a lot of positive things written about any benefits of using the Click Here to Read More

Two Photographers Tie The Knot In This Seriously Gorgeous Wedding From Antigua, Guatemala (Part 2)

And here's part 2 of Kristiaan and Lionel's gorgeous Antigua wedding and a few words from the bride about their amazing day. "After the ceremony, guests rode a chicken bus (a brightly painted school bus) to the ruins of an old church where we celebrated the night away. I'm a DIY girl, but I had to settle on just a few items to bring and a limited number of craft projects. It was difficult to hand over the reins to a local, but with a destination wedding, I knew I had to. I sent the decorator screenshots to give him a sense of what I wanted — neutral colors (peach, gray, cream, tans, and Click Here to Read More

Two Wedding Photographers Tie The Knot In This Seriously Gorgeous Wedding From Antigua, Guatemala (Part 1)

Typically our blog features are set for two months out, so submissions that are accepted today will likely be published in late July or August. That being said, yesterday when I received today's amazing wedding, I was so blown away by the gorgeous imagery, I broke a couple of my own submission guidelines, (shhhh), and rearranged everything just to bring it to you today. Yes...it's that good! Bride and groom Kristiaan and Lionel are wedding photographers, (Note:  wedding photographers always have the coolest weddings, just sayin'). High on the list of priorities for their wedding was location, Click Here to Read More

A Little Bit of Fog Adds Mystical Beauty To This Sweet Harper’s Ferry Engagement Session

Aviva and Avery grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland only a few blocks away from one another in similar communities, yet they didn’t meet until they were adults. However, once they did meet, their common experiences forged a relationship so comfortable and easy it's almost as if they've known each other their whole lives. In addition, Aviva and Avery both enjoy teaching and helping others. He is a high school English teacher and she worked her way through collage with 36 hour shifts every other weekend helping disabled adults. It's always nice to see two selfless people come together. The Fabulousness of Industrial Design and Decorating

You all know how much I love me some Nate Berkus, right? And if you do too, you'll know that he had a short segment on his show this week about industrial design, which is what gave me the idea for today's post. So...I'm borrowing a little inspiration from him, he won't mind. In fact, if he reads my blog...I think he'd be quite happy to have inspired this/me...I mean, that's what his show is all about. Or...at least he'd enjoy the images ;-) A girl can dream, right? Anyhow...what I love to do most with industrial design is combine it with something soft. A space that is all industrial without Click Here to Read More

Casting Call For The Newlywed Show with Sherri Shepherd

A couple of days ago, a Facebook friend posted a link saying the Newlywed Show, hosted by Sherri Shepherd, is looking for couples with great personalities married under five years to apply to be on the show. In addition to possibly being on TV, the words "for a chance to win a second honeymoon" might have been an enticing factor for sending an email to their casting department. Unfortunately, even though The Hubby and I would just squeak in under the five year deadline, after speaking with the casting department yesterday we determined our summer schedule will not allow us to fly to New York Click Here to Read More

An Intimate & Magical Valhalla Estate Wedding

Dianna and Shane were married at the historic Valhalla Estate in South Lake Tahoe. Only their closest family and friends attended their intimate and heartfelt candlelit ceremony. Beautifully sewn hand-made drapes were hung in the grand hall where the couple got married. Kim Iliffe of Flowers by Kim designed the Hydrangea bouquets and centerpieces that filled the room. The snow that fell the night before made the venue appear even more magical with the light coating of white that covered the ground. The Flour Girl made delicious Red Velvet cupcakes and Dave Berkman with Ascent DJ kept the guests Click Here to Read More

Travel Themed Wedding Inspiration From Love Is An Adventure Workshop

It's pretty rare for me to post any of my photography other than DIY tutorials or personal stuff. Besides, there's some great inspiration for anyone looking to have a travel themed wedding. The workshop was put on by one of my great photographer friends, Jessica of Jessica Frey Photography. This Little Sizzler Has Hot Written All Over it

Before my sister got married, way before...like when we were still in high school, she said she wanted her wedding dress to be short in the front and long in the back, kind of like this cute dress featured today. She probably doesn't even remember saying that, but I do. And if you're reading this Sue, first off hi...I love and miss you ;-) And second, I don't know why this stuck in my head for so long when so many other things tend to escape ;-) But...whatever the reason, this style of dress will always remind me of my sister. And she would look SO good in it too with her tall frame and super Click Here to Read More
