An Abundance of Love + A “Wet Knot” at This Gorgeous Colorado Wedding at Cielo (Part 1)

So…remember how I took some time off at the beginning of July. Well, part of it was for our vacation…but the other part was to photograph the beautiful wedding I’m featuring today. The bride Mary and I have been friends for a long time, so in addition to watching her and Brian fall in love…I also had the honor of being able to photograph their amazing and fun wedding in Colorado.
Although we all live in California, Brian’s family is from Colorado where his aunt Roz owns a lovely wedding and event facility in Castle Rock called Cielo. So after a two year engagement the day had finally come, everyone was there, friends had flown in from all over the world, all the details were in place and everything was perfect and not even the rain that fell throughout the day could put a damper on the happy spirit.
Yes, the wedding was supposed to be outside and we did wait until the very last minute to make the decision, but ultimately it was decided to bring it in. As you can see though, with the giant sliding doors from Cielo’s dinning hall where the ceremony was held, it was almost as if we were outside anyway. I like to think rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck, but my favorite “rainy” wedding day quote is this, “A wet knot is harder to untie”. Genius, huh?
Oh yes…I’m also showing several of Mary and Brian’s “First Look” images here to show how it doesn’t matter where you photograph a first look. We had to have it inside in one of the dressing rooms because of the rain, but you don’t see any of that…all you can see is the love and happiness between the two of them. Beautiful, isn’t it?
