Last year I made and posted this Nifty Ribbon & Button No-Slip Bookmark DIY. Have you seen it? It was and still is quite popular as it continues to receive hundreds of page-views on a daily basis.
The other day while in my craft room I noticed these pretty, frilly ribbons left over from another project. And I thought to myself, “Those would make some pretty bookmarks!”
So I decided to make a variation of the original DIY, with a few changes.
Are you having a book themed wedding? These little babies would be cute guest gifts, don’t you think?
Here’s what you’ll need to take on this DIY.
Small rubber band
All purpose pins
Hand sewing needle & thread
If you want to follow the original DIY for exact measurements, please feel free. Here is is. For this version I sort of eye-balled it so it’s not as specific.
Step 1: Gather your supplies and eye-ball the length you want the bookmark to be by wrapping your ribbon around a typical book size.
Step 2: Insert rubber band at the end of one side of the ribbon, fold ribbon over rubber band, then sew ribbon together to secure rubber band in place.
Step 3: Just as you hand sew a button in place on the other end of the ribbon in the original DIY, in this one you’ll want to hand sew your fabric flower in place on the other end of the ribbon. When finished, the fabric flower will act as the anchor to which you will wrap the rubber band around to secure the bookmark in place.
And that’s it…pretty nifty, huh? These cute little things are so easy to make and can serve as some really neat personal gifts. They would be perfect for the avid reader in your life. One can never have too many bookmarks, in my opinion.
Or perhaps, like I said, if you’re having a book themed wedding. These would make cute guest gifts!
I hope you have enjoyed this project. And as always, thanks for stopping by!
