There’s something incredibly soothing about waking to the sound of waves crashing while tropical birds chirp softly outside your room. It’s a freeing feeling…as if everything back home which felt so heavy when you left…so important…so worrisome, simply floats away on the ocean breeze as you lounge on a bed that lives up to its Heavenly name.
On the beach below your balcony, the hotel staff rakes the sand in preparation for the day. And as the sun rises over the deep blue of the Sea of Cortez, you know you have woken up in paradise.
I was delighted to have been invited to experience The Wonders of Weddings, a week stay in Cabo San Lucas at the Westin Resort & Spa and the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort. The invite was extended to a few wedding bloggers so we could share what these lovely resorts can do for you.
So if you’re looking to have your wedding or honeymoon at Westin Resort and Spa Los Cabos, today’s post is for you.
From the moment we landed at the airport, drivers from transportation service Transcabo were waiting to whisk us off to our hotel.
A quick note on this. After a long flight, there’s nothing better than knowing you already have transportation arranged. Why be bothered with trying to get a taxi at the airport or hassle with anything else? Whether you need transportation for you and all your guests, or just you and your new spouse, Transcabo is the way to go!
Upon arrival at the Westin’s stunning open air lobby, we were warmly greeted by staff with freshly made Margaritas personalized for us with festive drink flags displaying each of our names. And at our room, while taking in the exceptional view from our balcony, we noticed the hotel staff had written “Welcome Wedding Bloggers” in big letters on the sand below our room. Pretty cool, huh?
For me, these were some of the most a wonderful details as they made our arrival feel extra special. Personalization is key to going the extra mile. In this world where we often feel like just another number, these kinds of “we see you” gestures, make all the difference!
One of the many unique features of this property is that most of the 243 well-appointed guestrooms have a full and gorgeous ocean view. So no matter where your room is, you know this beautiful view awaits.
But since staying in your hotel room may not be the only reason you’ll want to stay at the Westin, (unless you’re honeymooning of course), let me tell you about some of the other wonderful attributes of this property and the area around it.
Service & Ammenties
First off, the staff does it right. Everything we wanted, whenever we wanted it was taken care of. And even some things we didn’t know we wanted suddenly appeared. Like fresh fruit in our room upon arrival and an artfully created chocolate plate with delectable pastries was waiting for us one evening after dinner.
With the beach, three pools and plenty of lounge chairs for both, in addition to golf, tennis, fishing, an incredible spa, (as well as in room spa treatments and beach side spa cabanas), and a full fitness center…there’s plenty for everyone to do on property.
But if you want to see what’s outside the resort, like market shopping or a little local flavor, a taxi can take you to San Jose del Cabo in about 10 minutes and Cabo San Lucas in about 20 minutes. The bell attendants outside the lobby can arrange for a taxi for wherever you want to go.
Below are a couple images I shot from one of the markets we visited in San Jose del Cabo.
One day our group took a private sailing trip with Cabo Adventures out of the harbor in Cabo San Lucas. It was a nice relaxing cruise with drinks and a gourmet lunch as we sailed along the beautiful waters, spotted some Humpback wales and sea lions, and enjoyed the lovely day.
I think this would make a nice activity for a group if you’re having a long weekend wedding or if you and your spouse simply want to enjoy a trip alone.
Back at the hotel I was fascinated by the iconic architecture, especially after hearing its unique shape was designed to represent El Arco de Cabo San Lucas or Lands End, the area’s famous rock arch as seen in the image above.
And in addition to the hypnotic views, the Westin’s lush landscaping and numerous cacti completely drew me in. Also I love that the colors of the buildings around the property are painted to embody blue for the ocean, yellow for the sun and pink for the warmth or passion of the Mexican culture.
A Beach Mock Wedding
As far a dining goes, I promise you’ll love the restaurants on property.
Our dinners were THE main events though. In fact, The Main Event Cabo, an event & floral design + rental company not employed by Westin, provided the designs for the two mock weddings at this property. And what a wonderful job they did!
The chairs, custom linens and overlays and beautiful centerpieces as shown in the images above and below, were created by them. The mock wedding reception pictured here was at Plaza Cortes, one of the hotel’s most popular beach front wedding and reception locations.
I don’t think you could go wrong having your event here as it was absolutely perfect for us!
And that brings me to the food. My husband and I consider ourselves food and drink connoisseurs, and everything we ate and drank was far beyond our expectations. Dinner at their fine dining restaurant Arricefes was probably my favorite as the Sea Bass I ordered was simply out of this world. And you can’t beat the restaurant’s phenomenal hilltop ocean view.
A Mexican destination wedding reception in any of these locations would be a dream.
Eco Friendly Efforts
And last but certainly not least, since Fab You Bliss strives to bring you as much Eco friendly wedding information as possible, I couldn’t have been more pleased to learn about the hotel’s environmental practices, as well as their commitment to providing locally sourced food from sustainable farms.
If having an Eco friendly wedding is important to you, rest assured that between the Westin Cabo and details, rentals and flowers through The Main Events Cabo, your destination wedding CAN be beautiful and environmentally responsible as well!
Have Your Wedding Here
One of the many treats to look forward to if you have your destination wedding in Cabo is the creativity, care and attention to detail you’ll receive with this group of vendors. Contact Juan Pablo Colmenero, Westin Cabo’s Sales Manger and Event Specialist at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 52 624-142-9080.
Thank you to the entire Westin staff for making our stay spectacular, to Juan Pablo Colmenero, Sales Manager and Event Specialist and Cindy Andrea Lopez Macias, Events & Wedding Coordinator for going above and beyond for us. And special thanks to Angela Ibarra from Wills Communications for making the trip happen!
Finally, in all of our travels, I would have to say this was one of our best trips ever as the Westin Resort & Spa, Los Cabos certainly exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to go back!
Thanks for stopping by!
Next week I’ll have another post for you on the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort, Los Cabos.
