If you’re looking for a real wedding with tons of DIY details to draw inspiration from, you’ve come to the right place. Kat and Derek’s sweet Elliston Vineyards wedding by Vivian Chen Photography has so much handcrafted personality flowing it’s practically busting at the seams.
My personal favorites are, Kat’s adorable lace, knee length dress and birdcage veil, the cute chalkboard and vintage window signs everywhere and the fun and colorful sunglasses to be worn by guests during cocktail hour. Let’s not forget the pennant flags decorating the reception hall and the creative fabric filled embroidery hoops as a backdrop behind the bride and groom’s sweetheart table. Love it!

From photographer Vivian Chen:
Elliston Vineyards, hidden away in the Sunol Valley was the perfect setting for Kat and Derek’s wedding celebration. Kat and Derek decorated the property with lots of DIY details including lawn games for their guests to play.
When it was time for their ceremony, Kat’s father kicked if off with a gorgeous song. They exchanged rings and vows before having a moment of quiet prayer under the gazebo. Afterwards, their guests were treated to a “Make Your Own Mimosa” bar and donned fun sunglasses for cocktail hour. Their delicious brunch reception included hilarious toasts and equally goofy newlywed games. In lieu of a wedding cake, Kat and Derek served fruit tarts as dessert.
What I remember most about Kat and Derek’s wedding was the big happy smiles they had on their faces. From the moment Kat put on her vintage dress to when they cut their tart, that contagious joy emanated through-out the day.
Thanks for stopping by!
