Over the last couple of weeks Fab You Bliss has asked for your help in naming this Celia Grace gown.
From that, your voices were loud and clear!
We’re happy to announce you’ve chosen this beautiful gown name to be…
…in honor of Maya Angelou!
From Marcie Muehlke owner of Celia Grace
Each Celia Grace wedding dress is named after an inspiring woman. When I heard that Maya Angelou had passed away earlier this year I was deeply saddened but hoped that we could do our small part to honor her by naming a beautiful and meaningful wedding dress after her.
The readers of the Fab You Bliss blog apparently miss her as much as I do – they chose to name this dress style (formerly known as 1506) after this awe-inspiring American poet, actress, dancer, and singer.
Maya may be best known for her 1960 book I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, but also received dozens of awards and more than fifty honorary degrees. Angelou was active in the Civil Rights movement alongside Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcom X. Angelou pushed the boundaries of autobiography both as an art form and as an African-American woman.
Maya Angelou is an inspiration for strong, caring, daring women around the world and we are honored to remember her, and be inspired by her, through this dress that is beautiful inside and out.
Thank you for stopping by!
