Jordan and Jake had an elegant pink and gray wedding set to the rustic beauty of Stevenson Ridge in Virginia. With stunning florals, beautiful pink tones and one of the most amazing wedding gowns, Tori Watson Photography shares with us how much fun it was to photograph.
For most of Jordan and Jake relationship it was long-distance to Jordan having studied abroad in Scotland. Because of this they incorporated much of their love story throughout the day, as well some European traditions into their ceremony which made it a truly special and unique wedding to be part of! Some of those traditions included. Jake meeting Jordan halfway down the aisle and her walking the rest with him. This is a Scandinavian wedding tradition that symbolizes two lives converging and then continuing on as one. It also is meant to show the bride and groom walking the aisle together as equals.
The other two traditions they incorporated in to the ceremony were both Celtic traditions (Jake’s family is Irish). The ring warming ceremony (where they passed the rings amongst the guests before putting them on) is so that everyone can bless the rings, say a prayer, or offer their well wishes. The final thing they did was the Handfasting ceremony. The couple holds the hands of each other right hand to right hand and left hand to left hand crossing your wrists. This forms the infinity symbol. The ribbon is then wound around the hands in order to symbolize being bound. together for eternity. They had their siblings do the binding to incorporate the idea of the joining of two families as well.
