Janet and Ben wanted their Utah mountain wedding to build on the beautiful colors of the summer in Park City, so they selected orange and coral to go along with the vivid blue they already chose. This color palette is one of my all-time favorites!
As New York dwellers, they chose to have their destination wedding in Park City because they love to ski and they’ve spent a lot of time there as a couple. And with Pepper Nix Photography behind the lens, words can’t describe the utter love and joy their day was!
Bridesmaids dresses: Navy blue J Crew (I wanted the girls to pick something that fit their personality) – I picked navy blue because I love the richness of the color and felt that it would bring out the natural beauty of all the girls
Did you have a first look? Yes, the first look was orchestrated by our wedding planner and photographer just next to the wedding ceremony site. Up on Ruby peak at Deer Valley, Janet walked up behind Ben as he was facing the view off the mountain and he turned around to see how beautiful she was.
Did someone escort you down the aisle? My mom (dad died when I was six); I have 3 uncles and each were included in the days festivities. David (eldest and mom’s brother) gave a toast and Paul (mom’s brother) and Brian (dad’s brother) danced with the bride?
Favorite ceremony memory? Do I really have to pick just one? We honestly loved every moment – we wish we could relive it again. There were so many incredibly special things. From the toast in Cushings Cabin before the ceremony, to the absolutely beautiful service given by Ashley, Ben’s cousin, to the chair ride up and down, and then to the incredible dinner and dancing with all of the people we love the most in our lives.
Describe your wedding cake: It was a beautiful white cake with raspberry in the filling and a white icing. We had a orange ribbon tied around it. Dessert was incredible beyond this, with a selection of artisanal cheese made at Deer Valley, and carrot cake and lemon tart.
Favors/gifts for guests: We had an arrival gift bag for the week which included koozies, wine charms, granola bars, sun block, chap stick, caramels, and the bag itself which was monogrammed.
What was the weather like on your wedding day? Partly cloudy with sun coming through during the right times of the ceremony and reception.
What were some personal details you incorporated? We had lift tickets for seat markers, and ski mountains as our tables. Antique wood skis were our wedding guest book.
Old, new, borrowed, blue – Did you follow that tradition and if so, what did you use? Blue sapphire earrings, engagement ring with sapphires, new bracelet from Janet’s mom, and borrowed antique diamond watch from Ben’s mom.
Moments you loved, hated, cried, laughed or giggled at? The ceremony was absolutely beautiful. Ben tried not to cry multiple times throughout it, and barely succeeded. The ride up to Cushing’s cabin was perfect. And Janet was absolutely stunning. Riding down with Janet after was just perfect. The view was incredible, and the kisses were even more beautiful. The moment on the deck we had before we were announced.
Any advice you have for future brides? Have fun with it! Make sure that your day feels like the two of you – no-one will remember it as much of you. Words cannot describe the way you’ll feel on this day – it’s absolutely magical.
Thanks for stopping by!
