Today’s shoot was a collaborative effort by Carla Lutz Photography and Erin Dorland Photography to show subtle ways to make your historic venue feel warm and inviting. Such thoughtful ideas presented are planning breakfast for your bridal party or providing southern comforts for out of town guests in their rooms. To entice wedding guests to sit back and relax, the team took a different approach to a typical open bar. They used a beverage cart and bench for guests to enjoy a glass of bubbly overlooking the Nomini Bay. Enticing indeed!
From Carla Lutz:
Far from the hustle and bustle, this historic plantation was the perfect backdrop to our elegant wedding inspiration. Bushfield Manor is located in the small Northern Neck city of Montross, Virginia and was once the home of George Washington’s brother, John Augustine, and his wife, Hannah. The current owner grew up in this home and had so many fond memories of his childhood and his parent’s love. Unfortunately when his father passed away, the home was too much to care for by his mother while raising her children alone. So, she made the decision to sell the home. Many years later and starting a family of their own, Mr. Miller and his wife, dreamed of raising their family in the same home that had so many special memories of his family. When they saw Bushfield Manor was for sale, they knew it was meant to be. Now the home is offered to loving couples as the perfect backdrop for their southern wedding.
Our “bride and groom” were only dating when we selected them to be our models. During the planning process, the “groom” told us he was going to propose soon. So, all of the vendors worked together to design a plan for an intimate sunset walk after the styled shoot for a surprise proposal. However, the “bride and groom” received some unfortunate news beforehand and fully understanding that tomorrow is never promised, the “groom” couldn’t wait any longer and proposed to his “bride” before the day arrived. Their recent engagement couldn’t have been better timing as these two have the most amazing chemistry and love for one another.
There was little instruction as they were smitten with sneaking kisses or embracing each other. Later she joked how part of her thought she may have been walking into a surprise proposal/wedding!
My jaw dropped when the florals arrived such lush and perfect white roses before. Haley Tobias Events was very meticulous in designing and setting up the cascading centerpiece, to the hanging cake table details that will win over any hopeless romantic. Even the head table was custom made to showcase the gold glassware and vintage place settings.
Thanks for stopping by!
