Today’s Birds and Bees styled wedding shoot with Meagan and Ryan photographed by Jenn Byrne Photography & Videography turned into a real-life surprise proposal! How fun is that?
The “Birds & Bees” was inspired by the blooming iris gardens of Schreiner’s Iris Garden in Salem, Oregon. Nearby, in the town of Aurora, there is a great antiquing district where the photographer got many of the decor ideas. A shop called Canvas Antiques had so many beautiful vintage bird cages that she decided the “Birds & Bees” would be a great theme combining the flower fields with the vintage bird cages. Individual honey jars, designed by The City Hippy Studio, act as the guests’ favors, and the invitation suite ties the entire theme together.
From the photographer:
The real-life couple, Meagan and Ryan, were amazing first-time models for the day. Prior to the shoot, Ryan asked me if he could propose to Meagan during the shoot. I of course thought it was a great idea, and Ryan had a beautiful setting to propose to his new bride in. I asked him to wait till nearer to the end of the evening, so we would have the best light and so the makeup wouldn’t smear before the shoot was over. She was completely surprised and, of course, said yes. Their wedding will be on New Years Eve of this year, and I look forward to capturing their real wedding then.
From the groom:
Meagan and I have been together for almost 4 years and I knew we were both ready to take the next step and spend the rest of our lives together. For a few months I had been racking my brain to try and come up with a special way to ask her. No matter what I thought of it just didn’t feel right. I wanted her to be able to tell a story of how she was purposed to. When Jenn contacted us about modeling for an inspiration shoot we were both excited and thought it would be a fun opportunity. However, a few days later it clicked in my head that this would be the perfect moment to ask Meagan to start our lives together. Meagan loves capturing moments in our relationship and life. So to be able to have a professional photographer on hand during this moment was incredible. I knew this would absolutely surprise her and that was something that was very important to me. I contacted Jenn and asked her if it would be okay for me to propose during the shoot. She was so excited and supportive and worked with me to plan everything out.
After strategizing together we had our game plan, and I have to say, it went flawlessly. Meagan was so shocked and taken back when I asked her that at first she thought I was joking and it wasn’t real. Once she realized I was serious she broke down and starting crying. After a few moments she was finally able to tell me yes and I put the ring on her finger. To be able to save this moment in time forever means the world to both Meagan and I. I could not have asked for it to go any better. Jenn even added the cherry on top by having champagne ready for us to make our official toast. It was so exciting to be able to start calling our friends and family and spreading the word of our big news. I have to say thank you so much to Jenn for making this the exact perfect moment and allowing us to relive it forever.
Thanks for stopping by!
