It has always been a dream of Maura Jane Photography’s to combine her two passions in life, photographing brides and horses. On a recent trip to Pennsylvania, she was finally able to bring this dream to life.
The rolling fields of Abington Hills became the whimsical backdrop for this ethereal shoot. Cotton, purple thistle and large blush protera graced the bouquet created by The Vintage Lilly matching the purple thistle woven into Jaime’s hair. Her flowy chiffon gown, courtesy of Bridal Elegance, was perfect for a bridal portrait session in a field of wildflowers while riding her horse Finnigan. Everything came together perfectly making for the most magical bridal portrait session of a girl and her horse.
From the photographer:
My first job as a preteen was caring for a barn full of show horses; grooming and feeding them, cleaning stalls and tack, all so I could have riding lessons with one of the top riding instructors in the area. I grew up on a horse farm in Virginia right next to one of the largest equestrian show grounds in the country. When I realized that working in exchange for lessons wasn’t going to get me any money to buy those riding boots I wanted, I wandered into the booth of the horse show event photographer looking for a second job. I was offered the job of photographing the children’s classes, and this is where my fierce love of photography bloomed.
Fast forward five years, I moved to New Mexico for college and met my amazing husband. Photographing weddings and people has become my full-time job and riding horses has become my past. I miss it terribly and every chance I get while traveling to visit family you can find me back in the saddle. My younger sister, Jaime, is one of the best riders I know and she is what inspired me to do this photoshoot. She had always mentioned that she would ride her horse down the aisle when it came time.
Thanks for stopping by!
