The idea behind today’s heirloom blush and berry wedding inspiration is to show how a bride and groom can incorporate the heritage of their family’s love throughout their day. Photographed by Caitlin Gerres Photography, pieces of lace from family bridal gowns are placed in charms around the bride’s bouquet. A calligraphy sign on the cake table displays the family heritage, parents’ and grandparents’ names and wedding dates. A formal table setting with gold flatware and antique berry-toned salad plates keeps the reception tablescape looking elegant while still intimate. The toasting glasses from the family’s china collection are added to the table and passed down as a gift to the couple. And the cozy fireplace decorated with a 13-foot floral garland is an ideal backdrop for the sweetheart table.
The four-tiered cake combines the blush, berry, and gold tones with sugar flowers and an elegant ruffled bottom tier. An antique compote vase of plums, blackberries, and fresh flowers round out the cake table. The florals throughout the event are a mixture of garden and spray roses, hydrangea, dusty miller, and seeded eucalyptus. The leaf design of the seeded eucalyptus is repeated on the calligraphy invitation suite, done with gold and fig-toned ink.
The long sleeve lace Martina Liana dress with open back is an impeccably elegant choice for the bride. Plus, her look is finished with an ivory and gold hair pin and a heirloom pink sapphire ring, passed down for three generations in her family.
From the photographer:
The three of us who planned the shoot (planner, photographer, and calligrapher) wanted to include genuine heritage items in the shoot. The calligrapher, who also served as our model, included her family members’ names in the family tree along with her and her husband’s middle names. The photographer added plates and the compote vase from her mother’s china collection. And the planner’s heirloom pink sapphire ring (really passed down 3 generations) was used in the shoot as well as toasting glasses from her grandparents’ wedding. By using items that were already special to us, we felt a deeper connection to the shoot we were creating. And we chose blush to balance the traditional gold and berry tones and give deep fall palettes a new spin.
