I love receiving and being able to share weddings with you that were held in unique venues. From art museums to vintage theaters to today’s pretty pastel Norfolk Virginia zoo wedding, a good venue is the equivilant of location, location, location.
Photographed by Heidi Calma Photography, Courtney and Michael’s beautiful day held off the threatening storms, and gifted them with a warm and gorgeous sunset. Then a breeze gently blew through the garden as the party went into full swing. And they topped the night off with a vintage car and streamers.
From the photographer:
Courtney is a photojournalist who travels the globe capturing amazing slices of life in places like India and Jordan, and Michael is finishing his study at a Bible college. Their relationship began when they met at a prayer conference and spent time together afterwards, but Courtney was quickly whisked away on her photography travels, and they had very little contact.
They both wondered if they were meant to be together after their brief encounter, and eventually Courtney found the courage and guidance to send Michael an email, holding a breath that he hadn’t found someone else in her absence. They reconnected, spending time together over her Christmas break, and when she went back on assignment in India spent time together over email and Skype.
When she returned, he proposed, and their wedding planning went into full swing– with less than three months from their proposal to the special day! And what a beautiful day it was for a traditional church wedding with a reception at The Virginia Zoo. Both of their fathers were involved in the ceremony, and they shared the very first kiss ever in front of family and friends!
Thanks for stopping by!
