Alyssa and James wanted a traditional garden wedding, but they also wanted to make it their own, no cookie cutter wedding for them! With Krystal Kast Photographers behind the lens, they wrote their vows, strung pictures of their four years together, and Alyssa tied pictures of her grandparents to her bouquet so they could be part of her special day as well. The couple had succulents and customized dog biscuits to show their love for gardens and rescue dogs. Alyssa’s mom and dad made the wedding cakes, and the bride wrote a speech for them to thank them for all they do and the beautiful example they set for a solid marriage.
The band did a beautiful rendition of Alyssa and James’ song, Crazy Love by Van Morrison and everything they envisioned came together perfectly, and felt like them. The highlight of Alyssa’s day was right after the ceremony, hugging her new husband, clinking champagne flutes and laughing with delight that they were finally married. They took the deepest of breaths and went on to have a happy, celebratory day!
The wedding story as told by the bride:
James and I bought our first home in February, and we were so thrilled when the construction was complete. We decided that we would spend our first evening, the following Friday, in the new home drinking wine, eating pizza, playing cards and basking in the fact that we were homeowners!
That Friday I came home from work and relaxed until James came home. He came in dressed up and excitedly asked if I was ready to go. He also asked if I wanted to change first (I was wearing jeans and a fleece) because maybe we wanted to grab a drink to celebrate. I said I’d rather just be in the new house and didn’t need to change, so I stayed in my comfies (hey, at least he tried to get me in a nice outfit!). We got to the house and unlocked the front door together, completely giddy that this was OUR home. It swung open, and I quickly saw that all of the lights were turned off, and there were little candles on every stair going up to the living room. All of a sudden I heard our song start to play, Crazy Love by Van Morrison.
Well, I promptly burst into tears because reality hit me and I was overwhelmed with joy. I took his hand and walked up the stairs to see hundreds of lit candles and a string quartet playing our song! He got down on one knee and offered the sweetest proposal imaginable. I crumpled to the ground saying “Yes! Yes! Yes!” We hugged and kissed, he slid the ring on and we danced to our song. He had hired a professional photographer to hide in the corner and catch these special moments on film. I was SO happy he did because the pictures truly captured every emotional minute. We spent the next few hours crying and laughing and soaking it all in.
We drank our wine, ate our pizza, played some games and basked in the fact that we were homeowners AND soon to be husband and wife.
Thanks for stopping by!
