Britty and Nick had a small, intimate wedding on a Sunday morning at 413 on Wacouta Event Center. The bride Britty owns the venue, so it was the perfect place to say “I do!”
The wedding was planned in nine weeks! “We both wanted an intimate, casual gathering without a lot of fuss or stress,” says Britty. It helped that she owns the venue and has been coordinating weddings for five years. She immediately knew which vendors she wanted and made the arrangements, including securing photographer Jeannine Marie Photography who captured the wedding beautifully. And might I add, I adore Britty’s lace romper from BHLDN!
The couple decided to get married at Britty’s venue for a great reason: Britty purchased the venue in 2014 at age 26. To her, the venue is a symbol of taking risks, being courageous and never settling for anything that doesn’t make her 100% happy. She and Nick work together on many projects around the site, and he is her biggest cheerleader. So it just felt natural for them to get married in what is like an extension of their home.
Since Sundays are typically the only day the couple both have off, they decided to have their wedding reflect their favorite lazy Sundays. This included build-your-own Bloody Mary’s bar and lots of yummy breakfast food (mini chicken and waffles, bacon, mini quiches, and fruit and yogurt parfaits). Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple chose to have skewers of mini doughnuts and fresh fruit! The next decision was the decor! Britty recalls, “We wanted a light, cheery, spring inspired feel. 413 on Wacouta is already beautiful on it’s own. We accentuated with light pink linens, silver vessels for flowers and lots of pink and yellow blooms. Peonies are my favorite, so they were in abundance!”A unique twist this couple did on their wedding day was that they walked down the aisle together hand-in-hand at the ceremony! “We felt the processional song needed to be fun and feel like “us.” Since we were breaking tradition anyway and the two of us have always bonded over music, we asked our pianist to learn “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” by Skrillex. It was amazing!” Britty says.
“Britty and Nick first met when they were both 19 at Winona State University in Minnesota. They became good friends, and it took more than five years to realize they wanted to be more than just friends. They had picked out the engagement ring together so Britty didn’t think Nick would be able to surprise her when he proposed. Boy was she wrong! Nick had the ring sent overnight, and the next day he showed up as Britty was leaving work. He had flowers, champagne, and he got down on one knee! “It was classic and so sweet!” Britty recalls. The two then went to celebrate by having dinner at W.A. Frost.
Thanks for stopping by!
