Though Christine and Blake live in Chicago, they chose a mountain wedding at Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, Utah simply because the mountains make them happy!
Christine loves anything vintage, so she chose a classic and unique look that was divine. Her gorgeous Jenny Packham dress along with the bridesmaids’ Adrianna Pappell beaded dresses reminded her of the 1930’s, and she just fell in love with the look.
The bride also wanted a bit of rustic along with the elegance they already planned. No problem, the dining room at Stein Eriksen, with its beams and stone fireplaces, fit the bill perfectly. They didn’t want any décor choices to take away from the natural beauty of the venue, so they kept things simple, ivory and gold colors, stunning flowers, candles, and a few large lanterns. And with Pepper Nix Photography behind the lens, Christine and Blake’s wedding was the perfect day they wanted!
Describe your wedding flowers. I was blown away by how stunning all of the flower bouquets and arrangements were for our wedding! There were elegant white roses, Juliet garden roses, dahlias, hydrangeas, snapdragons with hypericum berries. Carol Smith had the brilliant idea to put this gorgeous fresh greenery at the end of each pew at the church. It was a show stopper!
Did you do a First Look before the ceremony? We did not do a first look. I always knew that I wanted to see my husband for the first time as I was walking down the aisle with my dad surrounded by all of our closest family and friends. I love when the church doors open, and everyone sees the bride for the first time. The look on Blake’s face was exactly what I had imagined…emotional, excited and beyond happy. It is a look I will never forget!
Was there a decor theme for the ceremony? The church is effortlessly beautiful with the wood beams and stained glass windows, so I wanted to keep the décor theme very simple. We went with greenery and flowers on the pews and big floor flower arrangement on the altar!
Why did you pick that location for your ceremony? My family has been attending mass at St. Mary’s for years. It is a stunning church with the more gorgeous view, but at the same time feels comfortable and intimate! My sister and brother-in-law also got married at St. Mary’s, which makes the church extra special!
Did someone escort you down the aisle? Yes? My dad, Dick Arnoldy, escorted me down the aisle and it was as special and perfect as I had always imagined it would be. Favorite ceremony memory? The vows.
What was your favorite reception memory? Our first Dance together as husband and wife Our song was, Let’s Stay Together by Al Green.
What was the weather like on your wedding day? Perfect! It was a gorgeous sunny day with temperatures in the 80’s.
What were some personal details you incorporated? We love to ski! We decided to use a pair of antique wooden skis as our guest book. Now we have these amazing skis with notes from all of our family and friends. I can’t wait to hang them up in our home! For the hotel bags, we decided we wanted to include a little something from all of the places close to our hearts. We put chocolate from Park City, Cardinals cookies from St. Louis, where Christine was born and raised, Skittles and Seahawks napkins from Seattle, where Blake was born and raised, and then Garrett’s popcorn from Chicago, where we reconnected and currently live.
Old, new, borrowed, blue – Did you follow that tradition and if so, what did you use? Something old and something blue was my African tanzanite ring. Something new was, of course, my fabulous Jenny Packham wedding dress and veil. Something borrowed was my mom’s gorgeous Michael Beaudry earrings and David Yurman Confetti bracelet.
Moments you loved, hated, cried, laughed or giggled at? I got a little teary-eyed during the vows but made it through without crying. We experienced a range of emotions throughout all of the speeches, a little crying, lots of laughs and an overwhelming feeling of love and support. We were pretty much all smiles all day,
What you would have done differently, if anything? Not a single thing. It was perfect!
Any advice you have for future brides? Don’t sweat the small things and enjoy every minute.
Your favorite moment of the day? I don’t know if I have just one favorite moment from the day because the entire day was spectacular. The priest announcing us as husband and wife is high up there on the list of best moments of the day!
Thanks for stopping by!
