Though you may not know it, lush lakes, a gorgeous coastline, and beautiful mountains are located all over the beautiful state of Georgia. So Leigh+Becca created a series of styled shoots to showcase the unexpected beauty of Georgia, beginning with this waterfall elopement at Cloudland Canyon State Park. The real couple, Josh, and Asheton volunteered to say their “I do’s” again in their original wedding attire just one year after their wedding date. Josh wore a custom suit by Billy Reid, and Asheton wore the Venetia Jenny Packham gown.
Asheton carried a loose, earthy bouquet of green trick dianthus, white lisianthus, an array of roses and dusty miller to compliment the location. The couple wrote their vows and shared them with each other on a large rock with Cherokee Falls behind them. They then cut their single layer hummingbird cake with cream cheese frosting and sipped champagne. Peg & Plum created custom wooden replicas of Josh and Asheton to top their cake. So, of course, they had to get a little kiss from them as well.
Although this shoot was created for inspiration, Josh and Asheton’s love story is real. Check out how they met and their proposal, in Asheton’s words.
“Josh and I met at a show in Atlanta. One of our mutual friends was playing, but Josh and I had never met. After the show, I was standing at the bar with our friend. Josh joined us and struck up a conversation. Being extremely bad at flirting, I had no clue that he was really just talking to me! Once I figured that out I panicked. I asked him to hold my purse while I went to the bathroom (probably not a good thing to ask someone you just met at a bar). Long story short, he didn’t steal my purse but he did steal my heart.Proposal: After dating for a year, we decided to move to Nashville together. Josh played music and I had just finished school, so new scenery was something we both wanted. One night, I started bugging him about how we hadn’t had a date night in a while. So he made us a reservation at Husk, which, if you’re familiar with Nashville restaurants, you know is a big deal. We had the most incredible meal talked about life and love and all sorts of things. After we got the check, he suggested we walk over the bridge (another Nashville staple). It was sunset, we stood there watching the city light up. He took my hand and said very sweet things about how the life we were building was important and how much he loved me and our life together. He got on one knee, asked me to marry him and waited patiently until I stopped screaming from excitement. Everyone cheered, and photographers popped out of nowhere. We celebrated with champagne and called our families. It was perfect.”
Thanks for stopping by!
