When Matt and Heather started the search for a wedding venue, nothing seemed quite right—until Heather’s dad stepped in and insisted that they get married on his alpaca farm. It wasn’t yet ready for an event, but he wanted nothing more than to see his little girl get married in the wedding of her dreams. So he, along with Matt, set out to make the farm the perfect wedding venue. He built a beautiful barn and farm tables ideal for an intimate dinner, harvested honey from his bees as wedding favors, cut an opening in a hayfield for the sweetest ceremony location, and so much more—all to make his little girl’s wedding a fairytale. And with Stephanie Michelle behind the lens, a fairytale it was indeed!
From the photographer:
Leading up their wedding day, Matt and Heather decided on a whim to bury bourbon at their ceremony site. The week of the wedding, the forecast called for a total washout, but the rain held out until just before the ceremony. There was a quiet rain that came down, just as the ceremony was set to start—it was a peaceful rain, setting the stage for the sweetest ceremony that they were able to start just 10 minutes after the rain passed. They decided to hold off on digging up the bourbon until after portrait time. When they did, the skies let loose within just a few minutes, and now you can call me a believer of the southern bourbon tradition!
Heather carried irises in her bouquet and also reserved a seat with a small bouquet of iris flowers in remembrance of her late mother. Ever since her passing, Heather has always associated the iris with her. According to Greek mythology, the goddess, Iris, acted as the link between heaven and earth. Throughout the day, Heather’s father was beaming, seeing all of their hard work finally come to fruition. No detail was forgotten, Heather and Matt put so much thought into everything to make their wedding a truly unique day for themselves and for their guests.
Thanks for stopping by!
