Best Style Features of First Quarter 2014

Continuing with our best features from the year so far, today we are looking back through Fab You Bliss’s best style features of first quarter 2014. With quite a few really good features to choose from, I think, no I know, these three will be some of your favorites too!

The sequins maxi skirt was absolutely one of your favorites as I heard from many of you saying so. The skin care post was one of my favorites because it’s entire message is so true. And finally, the “Heart on Her Sleeve” fashion shoot is one of the most unique shoots we’ve featured, so it had to be included.

An Undeniable Fascination with Fascinators

I have an undeniable fascination with fascinators. Unfortunately they’re not really a “thing” here in the US. Maybe we can change that. Are you with me?

The inspiration for this shoot was “Romantic Vintage” which began with the fascinators, to show how these fantastic taylor-made hats can be suitable for brides, wedding guests, and attendees of other semi-formal events.

The clothes from this shoot are all from a swap-chic boutique in Italy where you can barter high fashion clothes and beautiful vintage pieces and accessories. And the location was at “Terme di Agnano”, an ancient thermal baths station next to Naples. It is a place rich in history, where time has stopped and the atmosphere is magical. And as you can see from these images, it worked wonderfully for the stylish feel Chiara Natale photography was going for.

What To Pack For a Beach Honeymoon or Special Vacation

I’m really excited for our upcoming trip to Cabo San Lucas. In fact, I’m so looking forward to it, I’m counting the days!

Yep, Fab You Bliss has press trip to review a couple of hotels, the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort, Los Cabos and The Westin Resort & Spa, Los Cabos. The idea is for these properties to share with us what they can do, then for us to share our experiences with you. Fun, huh?

Anyhow, be on the lookout for a post soon which will review the properties and all their amenities, along with a little personal behind the scenes details as well.

But since my mind is on packing and what to bring, I thought why not put up a post to share what to pack for a beach honeymoon or special vacation.

Happy Fingers and Toes

Several years before I connected with the man I would eventually marry, I had a bad break-up with someone I thought, (at the time), was ‘the one’. Thank heavens that didn’t work out because the true ‘real one’ ended up being my husband.

Nevertheless, I was devastated at the time. You know the feeling, where a thick, dark cloud seems to hang over you everywhere you go. And more often than not you’d rather stay in bed all day than face the world.

Yeah, it was rough!

But through pain there’s usually a strength we discover we never knew we had. And whether it’s heartbreak, the loss of a loved one, or trouble with your professional life, bumpy times like these allow us to learn many things about life, and love, and loss…if we pay attention. And almost always we come out a better person. I know I did. And I’m sure I will again, at some point.

But what makes me bring this up today is the image below.

After this tough breakup, I went to visit my sister where she lives in Lake Tahoe, California. And although she was nearly married at the time, we made the visit several days of “girls only”…a pajama party in her living room, cocktails at any hour of the day and beauty treatments like we were at a spa, (because we couldn’t afford a real spa).

We even bought matching “sister toe-rings” at a local artisan shop, which to this day I still wear always. Basically it’s a part of me.

But the thing that was the most fun of that trip, the thing I continue to do even now – just to add a smile to my face whenever I need it – is a thing I call happy fingers and toes. My sister and I got the idea out of a glamour magazine, to paint each one of our nails a different color. And let me tell you, if you need a jolt of happy…it works! There’s no way to look at them and not smile.

And guess what? A smile and unhappiness can’t live in the same place.

So, whether you’re planning your wedding and feeling overwhelmed by it all or if you’re married and just need a “pick-me-up” or perhaps you’re single and maybe in the same frame of mind as stated above, give yourself some happy fingers and toes.

I’m telling you, just looking at them will make you know everything’s going to be alright!

Happy Tuesday friends!

The Simple and Chic Beauty of a Backwards Necklace

Just like this post featured last week, today’s style item is not a new trend. In fact, women have been rocking this fun look for quite some time.

But with the Oscars the other night where several beautiful ladies chose to wear this style, (including Jennifer Lawrence for the second year in a row), I thought it would be a perfect time to show how the simple and chic beauty of a backwards necklace can really help you shine.

In my opinion, the key to pulling this look off with smashing success is to keep it simple and uncluttered. A backwards necklace works best with a dress where the focus is on the back or a dress with an un-fussy bodice, like Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscar look from last year as shown above.

If the wedding or other special event gown you’ve chosen has an incredible back interest, then wearing a backwards necklace might be something you should consider.

I think there’s a beautiful elegance to wearing a backwards necklace. And with the right gown, choosing this style could help push your special day look into the perfect upper echelon style you’ve been dreaming about!

PS…in case you didn’t know, #backinterest was one of the biggest topics tweeted about at the Oscars. Who knew?

A Sequins Maxi Skirt Paired with a Casual T-Shirt

The other night I was watching a couple of my favorite “guilty pleasure” entertainment shows. You know the ones, Extra and Access Hollywood. I love me some Kit Hoover and Billy Bush especially. Those two crack me up. They’re a couple of spit-fire personalities for sure. And don’t get me started on some of Billy’s Olympics coverage in Sochi, HI-larious!

Anyhow, on one of the shows there was a fashion stylist being interviewed about some fun style trends to watch out for. One in particular caught my eye, a sequins maxi skirt paired with a casual t-shirt. Did you see it?

Oh I love it! Of course sequins anything is really big right now, but I’m really loving the idea of trying this look for myself. It’s a little bit fancy, and a little bit casual and a whole lot of fun!

Try it casual like shown above, or maybe add a statement belt for something even more fun.
