Whether you are just starting out in a new home together or if you've been a couple living with each other for a while, there's nothing more romantic than creating a bedroom sanctuary just for you two. In my opinion, the best way to create such a special place is with a luxurious bedroom canopy.
From a traditional cottage style set up to a whimsical four poster complete with foliage and funky gold stars, there's a style here to fit almost every taste. So take a gander at these lovely rooms and hopefully gain some inspiration to create a special retreat of your own!

Okay, maybe not exactly conjured out of dreams...but pretty darn close. Of course, it sounds good...doesn't it?
While we're on the topic of things that sound good...I recently realized I haven't done any design posts on decorating for kids and thought, "We can't have that continue now can we?" And in researching for this post I discovered there are so many amazing ideas for creating some pretty fantastical rooms for little ones. Below are some of my favorite inspirations.
If I were a kid again, I'd be ecstatic to have any one of these rooms, especially the girly ones ;-)
4 All My Wishes
You all know how much I LOVE design right? And how passionate I am about recycling old things into something new again, correct? Let's not forget to mention how much I adore the great outdoors.
Now....how about we mix them all together into one post for today? What do you say about that?
A blogger and designer friend of mine, Lynne Knowlton from Design The Life You Want To Live, sent me some images of her AH-MAZING tree-house to share with you and I couldn't be more excited! Remember, Lynne sent me that fabulous Grapevine, Eh-Em...Balls DIY a couple of weeks ago? That's right...now I can
Alrighty then, so...you know how I'm working on my dream closet, right? Well, it's coming along marvelously and I'm dying to share what it looks like with you! But alas...there are a few things to do before I can do that. I know, I know...patience is something I lack as well, but it will be done soon...I promise!
So far I painted the entire room, built two clothes racks into one wall with two shelves and a shoe wrack. I primed and painted a dresser that was in there and created a jewelry accessory center. And it all looks so awesome! I just want to sit in there all day and admire how pretty
Besides the kitchen, in my opinion, bathrooms are an absolute necessity to have looking pretty and inviting. There's just something about having a beautiful bathroom that makes people feel good.
Take this gorgeous one below designed by Sarah Richardson and featured on House & Home. This is pretty much perfection!

If you have the space, a tub is a definite must. And this lovely light aqua room compliments the beautiful tub in grand fashion.

Um...hello, a tub IN the bedroom? Genius if you ask me.

Are you a designer with work that's screaming to be featured? Are you a photographer with access to beautiful homes you can photograph to further your brand? Have you recently renovated your home and you'd like to have it featured on a popular blog?

I'm looking to start featuring submissions from all of the above and more. So if you have a design project, big or small, send it my way. You must have the right to publish the images and approval from the owner of the property as well.
To submit, simply send me between 25 and
Your foyer to a newcomer should be like the outfit you'd wear to an interview for the job you REALLY want. Yeah, it's that important!
The entry to your home tells a lot about you and your home so you want to make sure it gives the best impression possible, right? Or at least you want to make sure the foyer reflects the design of the rest of your home. "But, I don't have a giant foyer", you might say. That's okay, even small entry ways need a little sprucing to. Here are some great examples for inspiration.

Have you ever looked at small room in your home and said, "There's nothing I can do here to make this room look bigger"? Well, don't worry...you're not alone. But designing to make small spaces appear larger isn't that difficult. I promise! Actually, there are many extraordinarily simple tricks to give small rooms the illusion of being bigger. And lucky for you I have eight of those easy tips just for you!
1. Light and brightly colored walls are more reflective so painting your small room with such colors can go miles in making a space feel open and airy. Lighter, more neutral colors open
I had a roommate once who could not stand wicker furniture. So much so it was as if even the thought of having a smidgen of the stuff on the inside or outside of our house would turn him into a little old lady with a pile of yarn and knitting needles on his lap. At least that's what I imagined he thought ;-)
Maybe its a guy thing not to have a liking for wicker furniture. I don't know...but I think in small doses and mixed in with different styles of decor, using wicker furniture can add a lot to the style of a room. Take the images below, for instance...

I'm sure it'll be no surprise that blue is a favorite color of mine to design with. Clearly that's obvious just by glancing at a few of the DIYs posted here as most of them have some sort of blue in them. Even the blog design has a bit of blue in it. Studies show blue is associated with clear thoughts, focus, intellect and communication. In addition, blue is thought to be a calming color as well as being a hue that promotes creativity. Awesome! Now I'm even more happy to have so much blue around me.
As for gray, there's not a lot of positive things written about any benefits of using the
You all know how much I love me some Nate Berkus, right? And if you do too, you'll know that he had a short segment on his show this week about industrial design, which is what gave me the idea for today's post. So...I'm borrowing a little inspiration from him, he won't mind. In fact, if he reads my blog...I think he'd be quite happy to have inspired this/me...I mean, that's what his show is all about. Or...at least he'd enjoy the images ;-) A girl can dream, right?
Anyhow...what I love to do most with industrial design is combine it with something soft. A space that is all industrial without
As the title states, this is probably the cutest thing I've ever made with felt. I LOVE it! I got the idea from the cover of this month's Country Living, which has a felt sunflower pillow adorably displayed on a couch. When I got the magazine my eyes immediately went to the pillow and I said, "I'm going to make that". So...here it is, I made it :-)
If you'd like to make one too, here's what you'll need.
Yellow/Gold felt
Scissors
19" x 19" Pillow
Sewing machine
All purpose pins
Fabric glue
Hand sewing needle
Contrasting yellow fabric
Step 1: Cut
Ahhhh....today I'm feeling like I should be lounging alongside a white sandy beach working for my gorgeously decorated cottage overlooking a crystal blue ocean. Oh yeah, wouldn't that be nice? But...since that's not reality, I decided to make my dreams come true through today's post. If you have noticed by now, there's a lot of dreaming that goes on around here at Fab You Bliss. But it's all good...it's fun to dream, right? And who wouldn't want to join in with as comfortable and cozy as these lovely rooms are. Wouldn't you agree?
