A couple of weeks ago I shared this post about using “stylishly sustainable dinnerware” for your wedding or event. And in the post I shared that I would have a couple of real weddings coming up that would feature these lovely products.
Lucky for us today’s charming and Eco Friendly Aussie Canadian wedding is one of them!
With Christie Graham Photography on hand to capture every beautiful moment, Erin and Steve were married at a southwestern style venue located in British Columbia called La Punta Norte Guest Inn. Besides being environmentally friendly, Erin and Steve wanted their wedding to be a reflection of them and their love together. So they created it to be a fun, laid back, Australian and Canadian soiree…a sweet mixture that was all about them as well as a great party with friends and family to celebrate their love!

From the bride:
As soon as we started planning the wedding we knew we wanted the day to reflect us – a fun, laid back party with our friends and family celebrating our love! We did our best to only have aspects that really reflected ‘us’, and didn’t include things or traditions just because it’s what was expected. We had a BBQ dinner, a casual dessert table, and the entire bridal party wore toms. We also wanted to bring together our two worlds (Australia and Canada) as much as we could. The framed pictures that sat on our card table were actually made and given to us by a friend of ours at our engagement party, and they were the inspiration for our decor ‘theme’ – Australia and Canada combined. We came back to this theme with the decor, using maps of our hometowns in the table numbers and a globe highlighting both countries, the flowers (all the bouquets had seeded eucalyptus in them, a classic Aussie plant!), our desserts were Lamingtons, a traditional Aussie dessert and Nanaimo bars, a BC classic – as well as fresh seasonal fruit from Summerland, BC). For cocktail hour we had a gin punch with Gingerbeer which is very popular in Australia, and our wine was from BC and Australia. We went with bright colours because we wanted the day to feel fun and happy!
It was also important to us to be as environmentally conscious as possible. We sourced plates and bowls made from fallen palm leaves and pressed without any chemicals or preservatives, bamboo cutlery, and everyone drank out of their own personal mason jars all night (these mason jars also served as our favours). Our “green theme” felt like a natural extension of our relaxed, happy wedding day.
Thanks for stopping by!
