There’s been discussion among many of us wedding bloggers about featuring weddings of diversity. I can’t speak for everyone, but it sounds like most of us would really like to receive more diverse submissions. Although it feels odd for us to have to ask for them, especially same-sex weddings and styled shoots because for me, there’s no difference between a wedding between a man and a woman and two people of the same gender. A wedding is a wedding and beautiful at that!
For Fab You Bliss, we accept all kinds of weddings and styled shoots, including same-sex submissions, they just have to be stylish, chic and beautifully photographed. Today’s Monet Inspired styled shoot photographed by Studio Laguna Photography most certainly fit the bill. As a lover of Claude Monet’s extraordinary art, this inspiration shoot designed by Belle Noelle Events & Design struck my heart and I’m beyond delighted to share it with you today.
From Casey Noelle, the shoot’s designer and planner:
As spring approaches each year, I always think back to my time in France. In particular my favorite part of our visit – Monet’s home and property in Giverney which inspired countless watercolor materpieces that to this day awakens a sense of creativity in the modern soul. This styled photoshoot is inspired by Monet’s work; in particular the piece “Springtime in Giverney”. We took this classic painting and interpreted it in a very modern way by using soft watercolor accents and organic flowing flowers juxtaposed with mixed metals and geometric lines.
We selected the iconic Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN as our “canvas”. It is a very modern and clean space, with interiors that play with geometric angles and floods of natural light. As a backdrop to our sweetheart table we hung frames in an angular way to mimic the lines in the art museum.? Our tall sweeping floral centerpiece was designed to mimic a classic french floral arrangement with a modern twist, and a local artist Steph Guidera painted and lettered a custom ketuba for our brides.
The incredibly talented Karen Morris Millinery was essential in selecting the headpiece, and as a milliner who is showcasing her works at the Smithsonian it was the perfect fit for an art gallery styled shoot. Paper Thick ink expertly wove the colors and theme of the shoot to create a vibrant invitation suite.
Our brides fit the vibe of the city of Minneapolis to a T. Both are very involved in the arts community, and from purple hair to tattoos to glowing smiles, they were perfect to model the gorgeous gown and suit from Flutter Boutique. Sarah Elizabeth Artistry and Emily Elaine from Uptown Hair District chose classic looks with an edge for our brides. Studio C chose blooms that were full of texture and vibrant colors. They perfectly draped and wrapped vines to give a natural flowing look to the arrangements. Having the table decor emphasize angles while the flowers are so natural gives a lovely juxtaposition to the overall aesthetic.
We had a local company “Furniture Reloved” paint an antique table with a mint toned milk paint which she then distressed to show a peachy wood tone underneath. On this antique table we used our mixed metal accents with geometric lines, and chose a color scheme that would meld the antique and streamline modern aesthetics.Instead of the traditional wedding cake, we used designer donuts which are very on trend for this upcoming wedding season. Angel Food Bakery is a rising star in the local foodie scene and design donuts that look like miniature cakes and are full of personality.
We choose to have a lesbian couple because Minnesota is on the forefront of marriage equality and to make a statement that in this modern day, any and all love can and should be celebrated. This Modern Monet styled shoot is intended to inspire ALL couples planning their wedding. As Claude Monet himself said “Everyone discusses my art and pretends to understand, as if it were necessary to understand, when it is simply necessary to love.”
Thanks for stopping by!
