Jelger and Tanja Photographers captured this colorful and happy The Lorax garden themed wedding inspiration created by Umbrella Events in New Westminster, BC
This shoot began as a way to celebrate couples who are forever young at heart, and dream to express it in their wedding. The idea was for the inspiration to be bright, colourful and playful with a sense of elegance. So the concept of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax was a perfect fit and definitely the way to go. The colors and playfulness were exactly what the team was looking for.
From the event planner:
I got in touch with several vendors who were immediately enthusiastic to cooperate on the shoot. More so because I gave them as much creative freedom as possible. The only requirement was to adhere to the colour palette (yellow, fuchsia, teal blue, orange and their corresponding pastels) and the sense of playfulness. All the results they returned were amazing.
The linen supplier hand-dyed the fabrics to give them an ombre effect, which looked gorgeous in the table settings. Our baker and confectioner got together and decided to come up with a collaborated dessert: 3 different tiered cakes decorated with cake pops resembling the Lorax’ trees. I created the cake stands myself by spray-painting candle holders I got at Ikea. And the florist was spot-on by assembling the ‘mismatched’ florals for the centerpieces and the colourful bouquets for our brides. The stationery designer finally, brought it all together with sophisticated stationery that reflected our colour palette perfectly.
For the brides, I decided to step away from the traditional look centered around a white dress and instead opted for a colourful but sophisticated look. Rosa wore a beautiful asymmetrical pastel yellow floor-length dress, Heather was dressed in a gorgeous, elegant pastel pink gown. The makeup artists continued the vivid tones by using bright colours and we accessorized with jewelry that gave it a refined and polished look.
The location of the shoot was Glenbrook Park; a hidden gem tucked away in New Westminster, BC. With the Lorax as inspiration, I couldn’t picture anything else but a natural surrounding for the shoot. The tranquility of the park felt like the perfect balance for the vivid colours and playfulness of the concept.
Thanks for stopping by!
